December 2009

I am so proud and blessed to have such an amazing group of friends and family. In last month’s article I asked you readers to send me what you are thankful for. I wanted December’s article to be full of blessings. Well, my prayers were answered. I hope you enjoy reading about how God is blessing the lives of so many people. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for us in 2010.

Amanda Abell—I’m most thankful for the mature realization of how important family is! As an ungrateful, unappreciative teen I was consumed with myself and did not have time for my family. In my 20s I was overwhelmed with being a single mom and so desperately afraid I would spend eternity alone, I was endlessly searching for Mr. Wonderful. However, in the last few years, I have realized I am not alone I have three beautiful children and a grandchild I adore. I am so thankful for my parents for their unconditional love, endless patience and never ending knowledge! I only have one sibling who is always there when I need him even though I don’t see him very often.

His spouse and her children have blessed our family tremendously. With maturity comes certain clarity on what I am truly thankful for and that is definitely my family!

Heather Cornelius—I am thankful for the blessing of my youngest daughter, who was quite the surprise—little did we know what God had in store for us. She was born on October 1st of 2007. My dad was then diagnosed with lung cancer on the 29th of October. He gave his life to Christ shortly before he passed away in January of 2008. My mom then passed away in March of ’08. I truly believe my daughter was part of God’s plan to help me move on and get past the death of my parents. Our lives may be in total chaos at a time of struggle but we can look back and see how those trials strengthen our faith and change our lives forever.

Fowlan Smith—Today I am thankful to the Lord for sending His Son, so that we may all be forgiven. What an ultimate sacrifice!!! Thank you GOD!!! I am thankful for the blessing of God’s Grace in all that I do in life. No matter what the task it always becomes possible, in some way, with Him on my side.

Christi Harris—Today, I am most thankful for God’s Word. He has not left me in darkness, but has given me His Truth through the Bible so that I can be strengthened by keeping my eyes on His promises and things to come. When life is too overwhelming I am not left relying on the words of men, but with the overwhelming comfort knowing My Lord Jesus is in control no matter what the circumstance.

Marla Woodward—I am thankful for the joy we are given through Jesus. No matter what is going on in my life or how bleak things might look to our human eyes, there is always an underlying joy that is only known from a relationship with our Savior. Knowing that He is always there, loving me unconditionally brings a smile to my face everyday. It helps me to remember that this world in temporary but He is forever!

Ginger Whitson—I am most thankful for my family’s health. I am thankful that I have a job because there are many without. I can’t help but thank God that HE is my provider! When it seems as though bills won’t get paid, miraculously they do! He truly is Jehovah Jireh.

Liesel Cottrell—I have so much to be thankful for right now! I have a beautiful healthy new son and a quick recovery from a C-section! I have an AMAZING family that has helped through the journey of rough pregnancy and deployment of my husband. God also did a miracle and brought my husband home to be with me when Josh was born.

Angel Haley—I read your article and am truly blessed by what you said about counting my blessings. Lesli, I do thank God for everything that I have and that happens to me every day. I also prayed today that God would let the fruits of His Spirit poor out of me today as with being a police and 911 dispatcher, I really need to have people around me see God through me.

Cory Bishop Wofford—I have made many mistakes in my life and with that I now can look back and I am no longer angry. I am thankful for God always being there right by my side and giving me life. Life is too short for anger and hate. “THANK YOU GOD FOR MY LIFE, FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ALWAYS BEING THERE!!” Amen.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” Luke 2:8-14
